Email & Collaboration Service (ECS)
In today's connected world, electronic communication has become the norm. Most companies benefit from the speed and convenience of email, however not all organizations take advantage of a full featured collaboration system. Implementing one of these systems can cost an organization thousands in hardware, software and expertise and many times companies won't see the return on their initial investment until further growth down the road. With Samba Networks' ECS, your company has access to a rich messaging and collaboration platform that goes beyond simple email by providing:
- 500MB of mailbox storage (additional storage available by the ½GB)
- Email Protection Service (EPS) against SPAM and viruses comes standard
- Shared access to mailboxes, calendars, contacts and "public folders"
- Feature-rich browser-based client can be accessed from anywhere
- Seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook 2003, XP and 2000
- Email, calendar, and address book data integration with popular wireless devices such as BlackBerry, Treo, and HP iPAQ handhelds.
Email Protection Service (EPS)
Unsolicited email (SPAM) and email viruses cost companies billions of dollars each year in lost productivity and infected computers. Samba Networks' EPS stands between email senders on the Internet and recipients at your company to filter these messages from legitimate email. Activating the service on your company's domain requires just a few-simple steps. And we use the same methods large enterprises use to combat email SPAM and viruses, such as:
Email Virus Scanning. Every message coming through the EPS system is scanned for executable files attached to the email message. The file is then compared to a frequently updated database of known virus signatures. If the file matches a signature of a known virus then the message is blocked from entering your company's network.
DNS Blackhole Lists. Using frequently updated lists of IP addresses, domain names, and URLs of servers known to relay SPAM email on the Internet, the EPS blocks email that is sent to users originating from these "blacklisted" mail servers.
Content-based Filtering. By looking for certain keywords and key phrases in messages the EPS system can determine if the message that is being sent to an employee is SPAM.
Statistical Filtering. Also known as Bayesian filtering, attempts to predict whether a message being sent is unsolicited email or not by keeping a database of known SPAM messages and known legitimate email sent to your organization on a user-by-user basis.
